Excursion to the Neighbourhood
“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are”.
It has been quite rightly said that the heart of education lies in the education of the heart. And a child’s heart not only seeks knowledge but also yearns for fun and frolic as well as learning through the experience of new and exciting things, places and people. Keeping in mind the overall development of the students, Boston World school provided its students of grades 1,2 and 3 a rejuvenating break from their hectic and at times monotonous routines through this educational excursion.
The students visited Ruby Hall hospital, Wanawadi police station, Wanawadi Post office, Fire station, Suvidha Nursery, ICICI Bank at Salunke Vihar and last but not least the Anusaya Sadba Lonkar Garden at Wanawadi.
The children had an enriching experience at the ICICI bank learning about different bank counter, banking procedure and how they can open their own accounts.
The Suvidha Nursery showed them an insight into how the gardener’s work so hard to keep plants healthy and blooming all year long. They gifted the school a beautiful Rose sapling which the children promised will nurture and water daily so it blooms and grows forever.
In the world of electronics, where people have stopped writing letters, the children of Boston World school enjoyed their time at the Post office, learning ways and means of sending parcels, postcards, and letters. They enjoyed stamping a few letters and parcels and helping the postman to send them out correctly.
A police station is a great place to teach children about safety issues and the work police officers do to protect your local community.
Children gained a better understanding of how the job of law enforcement involves an entire team, including many people working behind the scenes. They got to meet police officers, detectives, emergency dispatch workers, and even administrative staff.
The park was the highlight of the whole trip where the children could run and play and enjoy the outdoor swings and slides. They also learned the importance of keeping the park clean and recycling.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this day with their peers, returning to the school with wonderful memories and a rejuvenated spirit. Overall, it was an outing that made the students confident, courageous and to a great extent assisted them to learn the various people involved in our community. They will always remember this day and will certainly nurture these experiences for their lifetime. It was indeed a wonderful day filled with fun and frolic for all.
