About IGCSE

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including recall of knowledge, oral skills, problem solving initiative, teamwork and investigative skills. The resulting qualification provides a foundation for high-level courses.

The students who are studying in Standard VIII (SSC, ICSE, CBSE, NIOS or equivalent) with good results are eligible, subject to interview/ entrance test at RIMS.

  • IGCSE is a high-profile qualification. It has exactly the same value in admitting students to institutes of further education and employments as the UK equivalent GCSE.
  • IGCSE is comparable with GCE 'O' Level and the UK GCSE and is equivalent to the Indian Grade X exams (SSC, ICSE, CBSE, NIOS or equivalent).

All Indian Boards and Universities accept the 'IGCSE' as equivalent to Std. X

The 'IGCSE' course is a two-year program and examinations are taken at the end of the period. The examinations are held at the RIMS campus in for Grade X in the month of March. 

The same education would cost you £12,000 (Rs. 10 lacs.) for a two-year period of tuition fees. The cost of accommodation and other living expenses would be approximately £12,000 (Rs. 10 lacs.) for two years. Thus the total expenditure would be around 20 lacs.

Post the successful completion of the IGCSE, students can continue their studies from any of the local colleges in India or students can pursue the international 'A' Levels at BOSTON or any international curriculum in India or abroad.

The 'A' Level is a superior alternative to HSC or Junior College and is a two-year program after Std. X conducted by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (UCIE). 

It is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world and is accepted as a proof of academic ability for an entry into any reputed Universities (including Mumbai and other Indian universities).

All faculty members appointed are adequately qualified and experienced to deliver the IGCSE curriculum, however BOSTON policy encourages continuous professional development of teachers throughout the year ensuring good teaching and successful learning.

Cheque bounce fee is INR 500

After the confirmation of admission, you will be informed on the procedure to procure the books and uniforms.

Formative and Summative assessments for students as a standard approach is followed across all grades at BWS.
  • Weekly tests will be a part of Formative assessments along with various other tools assessing the learning of every child under our care.
  • Benchmarking tests conducted as a skill based assessment.

Boston World School has a separate Canteen facility, well equipped to provide nutritious food as per the advice of the in-school dietician and nutritionist.

Parents can approach the Boston Transport Department in May 2015 for further details on the multi-route bus facility and the associated nominal charges therein. (For the first year there will be a 50% discount on the Transport Fees.)

Boston World School is equipped completely to deal with any fire and medical emergencies. The building is fire proof and the school also has a tie up with a nearby hospital. A doctor on call and a full time nurse in the school with a dedicated sick bay is available for temporary medical relief.

About 'A' Level

'A' Level is a two-year programme after Std. X offered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. 'A' Level is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. It is accepted as a proof of academic ability for entry into universities, institutes of higher education and military schools, and is equally important for young people moving into employment. These exams are highly specialized and comprise of only three subjects.

  • Students who have just passed their Std. X examinations (SSC, ICSE, CBSE, NIOS, IGCSE or equivalent)
  • Students intending to study abroad
  • Students who want to study as per international standards and also seek the option of staying in India

Studying for 'A' Level is academically challenging but offers excellent preparation for the next stage in your education – for study at university or college.

Students planning to study abroad have a very good opportunity as they can complete 'A' Level of the University of Cambridge International Examination at Boston World School. This cuts down not only the cost of study but also the cost of travelling abroad as well as of accommodation.

Appearing for 4 subjects at 'Advanced' Level makes you eligible for admission to the First Year of the three years B.A., B.Sc., B.Com and B.E. degree courses in any Indian University.

Yes. The 'A' Level examination is equivalent to the Std. XII examination and is one of the eligibility criteria to appear for any Indian competitive examinations.

Definitely. It provides a focused approach. More concentration and a detailed study of the relevant subjects leads to better grades for the chosen career and eventually better chance of admission in specialized colleges.

Yes. It has been decided that Indian students will not require any permission/ no objection from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary & Higher Education for appearing for 'A' Level examinations mentioned.

The 'A' Level examinations are held in two sessions:
  • The AS-Level exam (Grade XI) is held in March 2016 and
  • The A2-Level exam (Grade XII) is held in the consecutive March 2017. session
